Welcome to my website

One of the first things most people ask me is where did the name Smampy’s Corner come from.

My oldest daughter, Naomi, used to call me smampy because she couldn’t say Mammy and it stuck.

At 16 and whilst at college, I started to learn how to sew with the help of a very special lady who was a qualified tailoress in one of the towns Gentlemans outfitters.

This is where my love for sewing and scissors began.

Over the years I have training and worked in tailoring,  dress making, upholstery and soft furnishings.

After working for a number for other businesses I decided to take a leap and start my own interior design business which I ran successfully for seven years.   

Due to ill health and wanting to be a stay at home mum, I took 5 years off. 

Once my youngest daughter started school it was time for me to start working once but this had to fit around the children.  This is when Smampy’s Corner was created, with me making bespoke dolls outfits for toy dolls and reborners around the world.

In the Summer of 2019, I decided to change direction and started sharing my skills, tricks of the trade and knowledge.
